Although eating too many hot dogs can be unhealthy the hot dogs do not take any time off your life.

Soaking hot dogs in water does remove sodium and if you boil the hot dogs in water for 7 minutes it will also reduce the sodium content of the hot dogs up to 60 percent.

The kind of hot dogs that are good for diabetics are pork hot dogs or beef hot dogs which contain 252 calories and 22 grams total fat, 66 mg cholesterol and 721 mg of sodium.

People with type 2 diabetes should limit or avoid high-fat cuts of meat, such as regular ground beef, bologna, hot dogs, sausage, bacon, and ribs, because like full-fat dairy, they're high in saturated fats.

Hot dogs in the package are already cooked and ready and safe to eat.

Most people prefer cooking them some more or heating them up but you can safely eat the hot dogs out of the package without further cooking or heating them up.

When boiling hot dogs it takes around 6 minutes.

If you're boiling a few hot dogs then it may take around 7 minutes or 12 minutes depending on how well done you want the hot dogs when boiling them.

If the hot dogs need more time, continue cooking in 30 second increments until all of the hot dogs are fully heated.

You can also check to see if it needs more time by looking at the texture of the hot dog; if the skin looks wrinkled and darker in color, it's probably done.

Hot dogs are already cooked and all you really need to do is heat them up.

So just boil the hot dogs until you think they are done enough for you.

As the hot dogs are boiling they will tend to swell up which means they are ready to eat.

Over boiling hot dogs will change both the taste, texture and color of the dogs.

Once the salts and preservatives are forced from the hot dog, flavor is decreased and the color begins toward greyscale.

Once more water is absorbed than the skin can withstand, the dogs will eventually burst open.

Do hotdogs float when they're cooked?

Not all hot dogs are created equal, so not all hot dogs float!

The Hot Dogs with more meat sink, while hot dogs with more fat and gristle float.
