If you eat rotten food you could get food poisoning or just get a stomach cramp, bloating, diarrhea, vomiting etc.

It depends on the type of rotten food that you eat.

For example rotten meat could cause food poisoning and possible death if you eat it while rotten food such as rotten fruits and rotten vegetables could just make you sick to your stomach and cause temporary food poisoning that resolves on it's own.

It's not recommended to eat rotten vegetables or rotten fruit as you could get sick and could have stomach cramps, diarrhea and possible vomiting.

You won't get deathly sick from Rotten Tomatoes or Rotten Vegetables or Rotten Fruit but it's not worth getting sick from eating the rotten food.

You can eat old vegetables as long as the vegetables have not gone bad.

As long as the vegetables have not molded, gone sour or have gone bad then they are safe to eat.

Most vegetables last between 3 to 5 days although some vegetables may last for 2 weeks.

Cooked vegetables last for 3 to 7 days in the refrigerator.

To know if vegetables are spoiled, look for greens that are turning a yellowish color or appear slimy.

If your vegetables are covered in mold, throw them out to avoid getting sick.

You can also tell if your vegetables are spoiled by smelling them.

If they smell foul or bitter, they've probably gone bad.

It's not the most pleasant way to tell if food has gone bad, but if everything looks fine and you're still unsure, give it a whiff.

If it smells rancid or pungent, or otherwise worse than when you put it in the fridge, it's better not to take the risk.

Vegetables tend to suffer from “soft rot,” which is the result of bacteria attacking their tissue.

While rotted vegetables are not something you'll want to eat, the bacteria involved are not the same ones as those that lead to food poisoning.

Most people would not choose to eat spoiled food.

However, if they did, they probably would not get sick.

Spoilage bacteria can cause fruits and vegetables to get mushy or slimy, or meat to develop a bad odor, but they do not generally make you sick.

If you happen to eat spoiled or rotten vegetables you'd likely get a stomach ache, vomiting and diarrhea but most often you'd be fine.

However it's not recommended to eat any spoiled vegetables but old vegetables are okay as long as they haven't spoiled.

Or if the vegetable such as a potato has a bit of bad spot to it you could cut the bad spot off and eat the rest.

Or if the vegetable has a small amount of mold you could cut the moldy part off the vegetable and eat the rest.
