You can make rice taste better by cooking the rice in chicken broth, beef broth or even vegetable broth instead of using water.

Or after cooking the rice, you could also pour some of the chicken broth, beef broth or vegetable broth onto the rice.

Other ways you can enhance the rice for better taste are to add some butter and or herbs, lime juice, soy sauce and or some coconut milk.

You can also finish the rice with some toasted sesame oil or spices such as turmeric which can give it a savory boost.

I also like to add some hot sauce on my rice, which also helps the rice taste much better.

Even adding some ketchup to the rice can make for a great tasting rice, which is not the most flavorful taste, but it is much better than plain rice.

There were times, when all I had was rice to eat and I used ketchup and hot sauce to get by on rice for a week.

I cannot eat rice, unless it has something on it, or I will physical gag for some reason.

To spice up your rice, you can also use cumin, turmeric, cardamon, saffron, pepper or even crushed red pepper.

Or even try melting some cheese like Cheddar cheese or pour nacho cheese over the rice.

You can also add in some shredded chicken, sausage, bacon, or even mix in some bacon grease or bacon bits to the rice.

Stirring in some fresh parsley, cilantro, thyme or lime juice while fluffing the rice and or adding in some toasted nuts, like cashews, almonds, dried fruits like currants, apricots or seaweed based furikake.

Using some soy sauce, chili crisp or even a dash of some MSG for savory "umami" flavor also makes the rice taste much better.

Cooking the rice with some garlic, onions or bay leaves can add aroma and depth or even saute the garlic and or onions can also make them taste much better in the rice.

If you want to add some creaminess and richness to the rice, you an also substitute half the water, with some coconut milk or stir in some butter after cooking.

Or you can also saute the dry rice in some oil or butter for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant, before adding the liquid to get a nutty flavor.

For cheesy rice you can mix in some parmesan or cheddar cheese.

Or fry the rice, by frying the rice with some peas, egg and soy sauce etc.

Or add in some tomato bouillon or paste while cooking the rice, for tomato rice.

For better texture you should also always rinse the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear to remove excess starch from the rice.
