To thicken pumpkin mash you can add some coconut flour to the pumpkin mash until it thickens.

You can use 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter instead of the heavy cream and perhaps mix in a tablespoon of coconut flour to help thicken the pumpkin mash.

The recipe for making pumpkin mash is below.

To make pumpkin mash follow the below directions.

Remove the seeds and skin from pumpkin and cut into smaller pieces.
Boil steam or microwave the pumpkin until until tender.
Drain pumpkin and mash the pumpkin until smooth, add grated cheese, cream (enough to make smooth) , pepper and salt and continue to mash until cheese has melted.

Canned pumpkin and pumpkin puree are the same thing.

These terms are often used interchangeably in recipes (you may also see the term solid-pack pumpkin).

Some things you can do with leftover pumpkin mash include.

Oatmeal: Stir extra pumpkin into your morning oatmeal with a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar.

Pancakes: You can add canned pumpkin to your favorite pancake recipe (or try this top-rated pumpkin pancake recipe).
