A few ways you can generate electricity at home for free is through solar panels and batteries and even wind generators.
However buying solar panels and batteries or wind generators costs money upfront but overtime they can pay for themselves.
You can also generate your own electricity at home by using a portable generator but that will not be free as you need gasoline, diesel, propane or natural gas to operate those types of generators.
Operating your own portable generator to power your house is actually more expensive in the long run than paying an electric bill.
I ran my portable gasoline generator to power my whole house for 3 weeks before when we had a long power outage and the cost of gasoline for running that generator 24 hours per day and 7 days per week was around $25.00 per day.
That equaled to $175.00 per week or $525.00 for 3 weeks.
So it would have cost me around $700.00 to $1,000.00 per month to run my generator all the time for a month depending on gasoline prices.
My electric bill for the month sometimes gets to $500.00 per month in the summer but never above that.
Still it was worth the money spent to have electricity during the power outage.
