Yes you can get a warrant for text messages.
If you've been suspected of sending threatening text messages or sending nasty texts to minors etc then the police can get a warrant to get your text messages from the phone or server.
The police can get a warrant to get your phone from you and go through it.
Also even if you delete your text messages from your phone the text messages can be still retrieved for a few months or so from the cell phone providers servers.
So if the police have a warrant they can force the phone company to give them your text messages and other phone records.
The same is true with internet browsing and logs the police can get the ISP to give them your internet browsing logs that they have to show what you've downloaded and where you've been on the internet.
