Aggravated Robbery is robbery where someone commits robbery and is armed with a deadly weapon or inflicts bodily arm or intends to.

Aggravated robbery is robbery, as defined in subsection (a), when committed by a person who: (1) Is armed with a dangerous weapon; or. (2) inflicts bodily harm upon any person in the course of such robbery.

Among the types of robbery are armed robbery, which involves the use of a weapon, and aggravated robbery, when someone brings with them a deadly weapon or something that appears to be a deadly weapon.

In terms of possible harm and penalties, aggravated robbery crimes are the most serious.

These offenses generally involve a weapon, serious injury to a victim, a home invasion or carjacking, or a vulnerable victim.

A person convicted of aggravated robbery could face 20 or more years in prison.

Without any criminal history, an aggravated robbery sentencing Texas ranges from a minimum of 5 years to 99 years or Life in prison (Texas Department of Criminal Justice).

Because this is considered a "3g Offense," you cannot get probation from a judge after a trial.

Some common kinds of robbery include first offenders, persistent thieves and hustlers, drug addicts, disorganized opportunists, violent robbers, habitual robbers, and skillful planners.

Most of these “robbers” are not professional, and the crimes are more opportunistic.

A crime or tort is aggravated if the circumstances make it worse or more serious than it would otherwise be.

For example, assault may become "aggravated assault" if the defendant uses or brandishes a deadly weapon.
