If someone or a person dies on Saturday it is said that a person who dies on Saturday will not ‘go alone’, but soon will ‘take’ some one else too .

That is, there will soon be another death in the family or building.

However it's just a superstition.

People die on Saturday a lot and some die alone and some die with family.

No it's not illegal to ignore someone dying.

However if the person is dying and you can call 911 or render aid then you should do so.

But it's not your obligation to call 911 or help them in anyway.

You're not required to call 911 if someone is dying especially if it's a family member who wants to die at home and does not wants CPR or to be revived.

So you can let the person die and then call 911 and tell them that the person has died.

In the United States (common law), there is no “duty to rescue.” In the absence of a specific legal relationship such as parent-child or doctor-patient relationship, a bystander has no legal duty to call 911 or help someone in distress. As to strangers to other strangers, the law only requires you to refrain from doing any harm, i.e. duty to do no harm. Nothing more.

Case in point: Osterlind v. Hill

, 263 Mass. 73, 160 N.E. 301 (1928) (drunk guy rented a canoe, was drowning, cried for help to the canoe owner across the lake who just stared and ignored their pleas, guy dead, owner was held not guilty).

Most civil law countries, however, impose a duty to rescue. I come from Indonesia (civil law) and art. 531 of the Indonesian Penal Code carries a maximum of 3-month light punishment to people who fail to extend assistance to a destitute person in grave danger.

The harsh effect of such a duty to rescue is apparent in this Indonesian case: Re: Cpl. Hendra Gunawan
, Martial Court II-09 (Bandung Circuit), February 12, 2009, PUT/07-K/PM.II-09/AD/I/2009 (Indon.) (soldier was held guilty under art. 531 for failing to take his girlfriend to a hospital; girlfriend told him before they went to bed that she was having difficulty breathing; soldier woke up to find her dead in bed).

The corporal was sentenced to 3 months probation.

The entire 911 system gets an average of 600,000 911 calls everyday and not all of those calls are actually emergency calls.

In the 911 system there are over 3,000 counties that have their own 911 call centers.

Each PSAP and each county is tied in to its own system and only handles calls from its designated area.

And in an average year, around 240 million 911 calls are made in the U.S.

That averages out to over 600,000 calls per day.

If you call 911 accidentally and then hang up right away the 911 operator will try to call you back.

If they cannot make contact with you then they will try to locate you by looking up GPS of the cellphone or if from a landline they can locate the address where the landline is.

Then a police officer will show up at your address to see if everything is okay.

If it's an accident then when the police show up just talk to them and then they will go away.

It has happened to me before where I had butt dialed 911 and I hadn't realized it but then about 20 minutes later the police were at my house.

I explained to them and they just checked if everything was okay and they were on their way.

The police have to show up on a 911 hang up call even if it's not an emergency because they don't know that.

Some people are forced to hang up on 911 by the criminal so they have to check it out.

Or if you called 911 and then hung up and it happened to be that you passed out or was having a heart attack etc they have to check the call out just to be sure.
