Collared Lizards can and will bite when needed and they can cause severe injury.

If you don't wear thick gloves or handle the Collared Lizard properly then they can bite you and although the Collared Lizard is not poisonous or Venomous it can still cause severe injury that could require stitches.

The Collared Lizard has a very powerful bite and when needed or when they feel threatened the Collared Lizard has the ability to and can inflict a painful bite that usually breaks the skin of not handled carefully.

So if you do need to handle a Collared Lizard then you need to wear thick gloves when handling the Collared Lizard.

Or if you don't need to handle the Collared Lizard it's best to leave the Collared Lizard alone and just observe them from a safe distance.

Most Collared Lizards do not like to be handled or held so it's best to leave the Collared Lizard alone and teach kids to not touch them either.

I have been bitten by a Collared Lizard and yes the bite is painful.

I had to have stitches in my wrist so be careful when around Collared Lizards.
