Dredging a lake costs between $75,000.00 per acre which includes the equipment needed and the draining required to dredge the lake.

So if you have an acre of lake it can cost you $75,000.00 to dredge the lake which also includes the labor cost to pay the employees to dredge the lake.

A 2 acre lake can cost as much as $150,000.00

Larger lakes may cost $500,000 to dredge.

If it's a public lake then the cost to dredge the lake comes out of taxes we pay.

If it's a private lake then you would pay out of pocket to dredge it which is expensive.

If you have the equipment to dredge the lake yourself and know how to do so you can do it cheaper.

Dredging a lake takes around 2 weeks from start to finish depending on how big the lake is.

A small pond takes around a day or two to dredge once it's been drained down.

But a larger lake takes around 2 weeks after they drain the lake down of water to dredge it.

After dredging the lake the water is then returned to the lake and then rain water eventually fills the lake back up as well.

Dredging a lake removes sediments and other debris from the lake to keep the water in the lake healthy and clean.

The sediment or sedimentation is the natural process of sand and silt washing downstream and that gradually fills channels and harbors.

Some lakes may need dredged every 10 years and some lakes may only need dredged every 20 years or so.
