When a truck is hard to start when it's hot out it can be caused by vapor lock in the fuel lines or even a bad ignition coil.

When it's really hot out and I have a full tank of gasoline my truck gets vapor lock and I have to sometimes open the gas cap a little to vent the gas tank and then the truck starts.

When vapor lock occurs there is vapor preventing the actual gasoline from flowing through the lines and this occurs mostly when you have a full tank of gasoline.

If your engine just is hard to start when the engine gets hot then it could be your ignition coil or ignition coils depending on how many ignition coils you have.

My Truck has just one ignition coil and sometimes when it gets hot the ignition coil causes hard starting of the engine or sometimes no start.

Replacing the ignition coil solves the problem in those cases.

If it's not the ignition coil it could also be the ignition control module or the vapor lock issue.

On my truck I found that my ignition coil was getting too hot and when it would heat up the engine would be hard to start and sometimes fail to start.

I then moved the ignition coil away from the engine to keep it away from the engine heat and now it's been just fine for over a year.

My ignition modules were also failing as well but now it's not been an issue.

Other things can cause a truck or engine to fail to start when it's hot out as well such as vapor lock when it's hot weather out.
