The meaning of Pilfering is to steal things or take things that do not belong to you.

Pilfering used to happen a lot in workplaces such as stealing pens, nails, screws, bolts, parts etc from a company that a person worked for.

At those times there were not cameras watching the workers like there are today.

So today it's hard if not impossible to get away with stealing or pilfering from work places now.

It's wrong to steal anyway so you should never do it even if the company can afford it.

Pilfering or stealing things from your workplace can cost you your job and can even land you in jail if the amount of the theft of the items are high enough.

Never steal or Pilfer because it's not worth it and it's not good to do anyway.

Jobs are hard to come by so you should make sure to keep your job.
