I want to start riding my lawn mower up to the local store and pull my lawn trailer behind it to pickup groceries.
I'd like to do this to save wear and tear on my car for short distances.
Is it legal for me to ride my lawn mower down the street?

Your title says. It is legal. I think you meant to ask if it's legal to ride your mower on the street.
That would actually depend on your local city ordinances. Some town allow it and some don't.
Worst you'd get though is a warning first.
