Brandishing a firearm in most places is a felony.

If convicted of brandishing a firearm and you were not using the firearm for self defense and were just pointing the gun or firearm at someone then you could get 1 year to 3 years in prison for your first offense.

If you have a criminal record already then you may get 15 to 20 years for brandishing a firearm.

Brandishing a firearm in most places is a serious offense and especially if you are trying to instill fear into someone you can go to jail or prison simply for brandishing the firearm.

Only pull a firearm on someone if you actually think you need to use it.

Otherwise just keep the firearm in the holster or put away until actually needed.

In some places though if the brandishing of the firearm is your first offense and you have no other criminal history then the brandishing of the firearm could be charged as a misdemeanor.
