The reason we get eye boogers at night and in the morning is that during the night our bodies are naturally producing tears and mucus.

Those tears and mucus are forming together and flow through your eyelids which create a glue like substance which helps to keep your eyes closed.

As you fall asleep you can usually feel your eyes like they are being glued shut which helps keep you asleep.

If you fall asleep and try to open your eyes right away then they will be hard to open which is normal.

Crusty eyes in the morning are caused by tears and mucus in your eyes that naturally occur through the night as you're sleeping.

Those tears and mucus form together at night and help keep your eyes shut so they are not easily opened and act like a temporary glue.

It's normal to have crusty eyes in the morning as everyone gets crusty eyes in the morning which you can just wash off with a damp washcloth.

The crusty eyes are also known as eye boogers which are made of mucus like your snot is.

Eye boogers are never OK to eat.

Although eye boogers contain less germs and bacteria than nose boogers the eye boogers do still contain some germs and bacteria that should never be eaten or introduced back into your body.

Eating boogers including eye boogers is supposed to help boost your bodies immune system which helps fight off other viruses.

But there's even better ways of boosting your bodies immune system and less gross ways as well.

You're unlikely to get sick from eating your eye boogers or nose boogers but still you should never do it as it's gross.

Eye boogers and nose boogers are similar because they are made of the same mucus and bacteria that makes both eye boogers and nose boogers.

However the eye boogers contain less bacteria and the only real difference between your eye boogers and your nose boogers is in how the boogers come out of your body.

The nose boogers come out of your nose and contain a lot more bacteria, germs etc and your eye boogers come out of your eyes and contain less bacteria and germs.

The eye boogers are there to close your eyes and act like a glue to keep your eye lids closed.

The nose boogers build up in your nose because it's trying to get rid of bacteria and the mucus in your nose.

It's still not a good idea to eat the eye boogers but the eye boogers are less gross than the nose boogers
