When driving at night on the highway or Interstate you should use your high beams when it's really dark out and hard to see.

The high beams allow you to see farther and easier than you would be able to see with the low beams.

But when you're driving on the highway and a vehicle is approaching you in the other lane with their lights on you need to dim your headlights until the vehicle gets past you.

If you leave your high beams on both you and the other driver will be blinded and can end up wrecking the vehicle.

Also do not overdrive your headlights because that creates a dangerous situation as well.

Slow down at night when possible.

When you're over driving your headlights it means that you are driving too fast to be able to stop in the distance lit by the headlights.

When you're driving with low beam headlights on you can only spot objects in the road for a distance of about 160 feet in front of your vehicle when the headlights are on.

So you want to slow down when driving at night.

When safe drive slower than normal at night because it can still be hard to see things ahead of your vehicle even with the headlights on bright.

Another thing you should ensure you do when driving at night is use your high beams when needed.

However when another car or vehicle is oncoming to you in the other lane you should dim your headlights before the other car or vehicle gets too close to you.

As soon as you see the oncoming car or vehicle with their headlights you should dim your headlights until the car gets past you.

Driving with your high beams on when a car is approaching you is dangerous because it creates a blinding situation.
