They call Jaywalking Jay walking, because back in the 1900s in New York people would call call tourist jays, and since jays were really impressed by all of the tall buildings they would walk up to the middle of the street to see how tall they were, therefore the word Jaywalking emerged.
Jaywalking is called Jaywalking because the term Jaywalking originated with "jay-drivers" which were people who drove horse-drawn carriages and automobiles on the wrong side of the road, before taking its current meaning as Jaywalking.
Jaywalking is dangerous because it can cause a person to get run over and killed or injured because most times the person Jaywalking is not paying attention to where they are going.
Most Jaywalkers will walk right out into the street without looking back and forth for cars and vehicles to stop or go on.
