Police officers mostly work outside the jails doing their job to protect the community and people from bad things.

The police officer may be called into the jail to do work in helping correctional officers when needed but mostly the police officer just brings inmates to the jail for booking and after booking the inmate the police officer then goes back on patrol.

The correctional officer is different and has different training than police officers.

A correctional officer does not have the same powers as a police officer and the correctional officer has no more powers once they leave the jail.

So a correctional officer cannot make an arrest of a person outside jail.

The correctional officer only has authority over the inmates in the jail or prison they are guarding.

Outside the prison or jail they have no powers over people.
