Fiber optic itself is not electrified as in the fiber optic cable has no electricity flowing through it.

But for fiber optic wires to work and send signals and data the fiber optic does require electricity at the connection of the fiber optic cable.

The electricity is required for fiber optic cable to light up the fiber optic cable.

Without the electricity the fiber optic cable cannot light up.

Just like if you have fiber optic internet you will have an electric hookup to the fiber optic cable and a backup power source to keep the fiber optic cable lit.

Fiber optics send data and signals through use of light and not electric signals.
