There's really no set mileage on the odometer of a car that dictates when the car will actually die or stop working.

However you should get at least 200,000 to 300,000 miles out of a new car that you buy but the mileage the car lasts depends on how well you maintain the car.

Most times people will trade in the car for a new one long before it actually reaches 200,000 to 300,000 miles though.

If you drive an average of 12,000 miles per year then it would take you 10 years of driving to reach 120,000 miles and 20 years to reach 240,000 miles and around 25 years of driving 12,000 miles per year to reach 300,000 miles.

So a car can last a pretty long time as long as you maintain it.

But some people trade in their cars at 100,000 miles to 150,000 miles.

I have a truck that has 400,000 miles on it and it drives really good but it wasn't just me who put that miles on the truck.

I put around 100,000 miles on it while the rest was put on it by a company that maintained the truck.

My car has 120,000 miles on it and still going strong.
