In the USA the telegraph lines and telegraph stopped being used fully in the year 2006.

But most telegraphs stopped being sent once the advent of the telephone came around and people became able to talk right away to the people they wanted to talk too.

Still though in some places the telegraph is still used today but not everywhere.

Most telegraph lines for electronic telegrams have either been taken down or just remain hanging on telegraph poles but have been disconnected.

However in some countries telegraph lines and telegraph services still exist today even with the advent of the internet and emails.

Around 20 million telegrams are sent through telegraphs each year in some countries but most countries do not use telegrams anymore through telegraphs.

There are some telegraph lines still on telegraph poles near the railroad tracks along a road I drive on often but those telegraph lines are no longer in use but they just never took them down.
