When your car starts sliding on ice the first thing you do is not panic and do not slam on your brakes as that slamming on the brakes can cause a major car pile up or cause you to crash the vehicle into another vehicle or go off the road.

What you want to do when your car starts sliding on ice is to turn into the slide or steer into the slide.

To turn into the slide turn your front wheels in the same direction that the rear of the vehicle is sliding.

For example when the back of your car slides to the right, turn the wheel to the right which prevents you from losing control of the car.

When you get the vehicle straightened out then try to pull off to the side of the road if possible.

If not then continue driving at a slower speed until you reach your destination.

When it's icy out it's best to stay home and avoid being on the icy roads.

But if you do need to be on the icy roads drive slower and be careful.
