You can be served court papers anywhere including work.
The process server will usually make a few attempts at serving you papers at your home and if you're not available they may find your place of employment and serve the papers to you at your place of employment.
I remember working in Mcdonald's around 5 years ago and the process server showed up and served an employee some court papers.
So yes they can serve court papers at work so just being at work won't make you unable to be served papers for court.
The best thing you can do is just accept the court papers and get on with your life because they will eventually serve you with the court papers.
It's best to get served the papers at home and not at work in front of other employees and potentially your boss.
