Process servers will usually make 3 attempts to serve you the papers they need to serve you.

If they cannot serve you at home then they will attempt to find your employment place and show up at your work place to serve you with papers.

Or they might send the court papers through USPS certified mail in some cases.

The court papers could be a summons to court which means you need to appear and if not you could have a warrant out for your arrest.

So I would highly recommend just taking the court papers and being done with it.

However sometimes they might be papers that are saying you are being sued and then it's up to you whether to be served with the papers or not.

But I still would advise just taking the papers and getting it over with.

Most times court papers will be served in person through the use of a Sheriff or Process server and they will make at least 3 attempts to serve you in person and if they cannot serve you the court papers at your house they will then try to find your place of employment and serve you the court papers through your work.

Sometimes the court papers may be sent as a last resort through the USPS through certified mail and you have to sign for it to get it.

You can be served court papers anywhere including work.

The process server will usually make a few attempts at serving you papers at your home and if you're not available they may find your place of employment and serve the papers to you at your place of employment.

I remember working in Mcdonald's around 5 years ago and the process server showed up and served an employee some court papers.

So yes they can serve court papers at work so just being at work won't make you unable to be served papers for court.

The best thing you can do is just accept the court papers and get on with your life because they will eventually serve you with the court papers.

It's best to get served the papers at home and not at work in front of other employees and potentially your boss.
