The main difference between an Amber Alert and a Silver Alert is that the Amber Alert is mainly used to announce the abduction of children and minors and when an Amber Alert is put out it goes through Text messages, KDOT signs, radios, Televisions etc.

The Tag Number and vehicle description is issued along with the description of the child that is missing.

The Amber Alert System is named after Amber Hagerman, a 9-year-old girl abducted and murdered in Arlington Texas in 1996.

It's a system used to ask the public for help in finding abducted children.

The Silver alert is used for helping to find missing adults who are disabled or suffer from things such as dementia.

A Tag Number usually goes out if they have one and the picture of the person missing.

They will see if the person has used a credit card or debit card to make a transaction at any stores which can be used to help track them down.

The silver alert could be used if someone has been abducted but an Amber Alert would likely be issued if that happened.

Usually in the Silver Alert cases the person has just left on their own and have wandered off and cannot be found so the silver alert is issued to hopefully find that person.
