The USA produces around 15 to 16 billion gallons of ethanol every year which is a lot of ethanol.
However ethanol is produced in other countries as well and sometimes the USA gets ethanol that is produced in other countries as well.
However most ethanol that the USA uses in their vehicles for fuel comes out of the USA and it's made from corn that is renewable.
If we didn't use ethanol we'd run out of pure gasoline much sooner so having ethanol in our gasoline is a good thing.
The ethanol also produces jobs through the farming and harvesting of the corn used for ethanol and then the actual production of ethanol.
