To make just 1 ton of steel or iron you need at least 1 and 1/2 tons of iron ore to get 1 ton of steel or iron.

You also need around 992 lbs of coal to produce that 1 ton of steel or iron from iron ore.

It takes less energy and resources to melt down old scrap iron and steel or tin than it does to make new iron or steel or tin from iron ore.

So recycling tin, iron and steel is much better for the environment than producing new steel, iron or tin from iron ore that needs to be dug out of the ground and then use coal to produce.

Because you need more than just some iron ore to make the steel and you need other non renewable resources.

Steel, Tin and Iron and be recycled over and over so it's best to recycle any tin, iron or steel you may have.
