In a modern maximum security prison it's very hard for a prisoner to escape unless they are assisted by a prison guard or other prison staff.

If a guard were to assist a prisoner in escaping then it could be possible for the prisoner in a maximum security prison to escape.

Maximum security prison is used mostly for those who are a real threat to society and the maximum security prison is designed to really prevent escape.

So if you get sent to a maximum security prison it's very unlikely that you would be able to escape because usually you are only allowed to move around the prison in handcuffs and shackles and with prison guard escorts.

Now with ADX Florence you're in a prison cell for 23 hours per day and are very isolated and don't really know where you are in the prison and you are handcuffed, shackled and escorted by guards to your rec cage for 1 hour per day.

Your shower is in the prison cell in ADX so you don't get out to shower.
