Bleach is indeed effective at killing drain flies or at least some drain flies.

But what's even more effective is pouring some really hot boiling water down the drain which will be even better at killing the drain flies.

You can pour some bleach down the drain and let it sit for an hour or so and then get a few pots of water boiling really hot.

Then pour that boiling hot water down the drain which will kill the drain flies and flush the drain flies and their larvae down the drain.

You can also get rid of drain flies by pouring 1/2 cup of salt, 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of vinegar down the drain and allow it to sit overnight.

Then in the morning pour a pot of boiling water down the drain to wash it out and flush any drain flies down the drain.
