If you hit a car and leave and you're at fault for the accident then you can be charged with hit and run.

If no one was hurt in the hit and run car accident then the charge would be a misdemeanor with a fine and maybe a few months in jail depending on the state.

If someone was hurt then you could get a fine plus a year in jail and if someone was killed in the hit and run accident then you could be charged with involuntary manslaughter and serve 5 to 10 years in prison.

Never leave the scene of a car accident even if you didn't hurt anybody.

You should call the police and make a police report so that you do not get into trouble even if nobody is in the car or vehicle that you hit.

You'll be found eventually after you hit the car and leave because someone may have seen it and even cameras being around today can catch you hitting a vehicle and then taking off.
