If you can't make bail to get out of jail after being arrested then you'll stay in jail until you see the judge.

That time frame to see a judge can vary but sometimes you might see a judge within the next day or if over the weekend you would stay in jail until Monday comes around if the judge is able to see you then.

When you go to jail you'll be set a court date and you'll stay in jail until the court date which is sometimes for a few days or even months.

Some people who can't make bail have stayed in jail as long as 4 years before being able to get out or be sent to prison.

If you're arrested for a serious crime and know you're gonna be in prison anyway for some time then it's sometimes best to just stay in jail as that time served in jail will count towards your time and you'd already serve that amount of time making your prison term a bit less.

But if it's just something minor that you won't go to prison over then trying to come up with the bail or hiring a bail bondsman to get you out would be a good idea.

With a bail bondsman you pay a percentage of the bail and the bail bondsman gets you out by posting the rest of the bail.

But if you fail to pay back the bail money to the bail bondsman then a bounty hunter will track you down and take you back to jail if you miss court and fail to pay the bail bondsman.
