A life flight helicopter pilot makes on average of $82,000.00 per year which really isn't enough for what they do.

Life Flight Helicopter pilots fly in all kinds of weather when possible to get to someone in need of fast medical help and they do a very dangerous job.

The life flight helicopter pilot is a highly trained pilot to fly in the worse of weather conditions and to be able to land in all sorts of areas where they can safely do so.

Life Flight Helicopters can get to you pretty fast but not always faster than an ambulance can on the road.

Before a life flight helicopter can take off from their location they must get the helicopter started go through some pre flight checks and make sure everything is working properly which can take 10 to 15 minutes or a bit longer and then lift off into the air and be on the way.

The helicopter can take around 20 to 30 minutes to get to the scene and then another 30 minutes to get back to the hospital.

Sometimes it's faster to just use a road ambulance if possible to get the patient to the hospital.
