When you take someone to small claims court you pay a filing fee of $100.00 or less which is then recoverable to you when and if you win the case in small claims court.
Some states the filing fee for small claims court may be as high as $200.00 so to get an exact answer you'd have to call the courthouse to be sure of the exact filing fee because it differs from state to state but is usually no more than $200.00
Only take the person to small claims court if you're pretty sure you're gonna win because it will cost you some money.
