If the police come to your door and knock on the door and the police do not have a warrant to enter your home then no you're not required to answer the door for the police.

But it could be that the police are informing you of some danger around the neighborhood or warning you about some suspect that could put you in danger so if there's nothing you've done wrong then there's no reason not to at least open the door a crack and talk to the office to see what's going on.

If you don't think the office is there for you or someone in the house then go ahead and answer the door to find out what the office actually wants.

But no you're not required to answer the door for police when they knock and besides if police had a warrant such as a no knock warrant then they could and would just break the door down anyway so it doesn't matter if you answer the door or not because if they have that warrant they will get inside the house anyway.
