The chemicals that Biden banned were Asbestos, "Chrysotile", Trichloroethylene (TCE) & Perchloroethylene (PCE), Methylene Chloride, PFAS, "Forever Chemicals, Red Dye No. 3 & Brominated Vegetable Oil (BVO), 1-Bromopropane (1-BP) and Ethylene Oxide (EtO), Chloroprene, Benzene.
Ethylene Oxide (EtO), Chloroprene, Benzene, was banned through a stronger air standards that finalized for chemical plants to reduce emissions of these cancer causing agents.
1-Bromopropane (1-BP) was a proposed ban on many consumer and workplace uses.
Red Dye No. 3 & Brominated Vegetable Oil (BVO) was banned as food additives due to cancer/nervous system links.
PFAS ("Forever Chemicals") there were regulations that set limits for six specific PFAS in drinking water (PFOA, PFOS, etc.) and designated PFOA/PFOS as hazardous substances to facilitate cleanups.
Methylene Chloride: A ban on most consumer and industrial uses was finalized, with rapid phase-outs.
Trichloroethylene (TCE) & Perchloroethylene (PCE) there were final rules that banned many consumer/commercial uses and implemented worker protections for remaining uses, phasing out PCE in dry cleaning.
And a final rule banned ongoing uses of Asbestos, "Chrysotile" which was a major step against the known carcinogen which is asbestos which can and has resulted in mesothelioma.
The bans and actions on these chemicals were part of the Biden and Harris Administration's efforts to strengthen chemical safety under the Toxic Substances Control Act or TSCA and address environmental justice, which aims to reduce cancer risks and protect communities from toxic substances.
