As a result it can lead to various types of challenges, especially when reading or doing other visually demanding tasks.

Scotopic eye syndrome is also known as Irlen Syndrome or Meares Irlen Syndrome.

People that have scotopic eye syndrome often experience visual distortions like letters or words appearing blurry or shaky, fading or even disappearing.

Being sensitive to certain light sources such as fluorescent lights or bright sunlight is also another common symptom or symptoms of scotopic eye syndrome.
