How can I stop forum spam on my mybb forum?

I run a mybb forum and it gets a lot of spam. Every morning when I wake up
I have to remove several pages of spam and it's making me want to shut down
the forum and give up.

How can I keep the spammers from posting the forum spam in the first place?

To keep spam off your forum you should moderate all new users first posts before letting them post freely on the forum.
