I believe it was around 2001 "I was 13 years old" when I got internet for the first time when I was 13 and was using a windows 98 desktop computer my dad bought at a pawn shop in Arkansas.

I'll never forget those days and late nights when I'd be on the internet when I had it for the first time. I remember dialing in to AOL dialup internet and tying up the phone line.

Then I'd get disconnected when my mom would pick up the phone and try to call someone and then she'd hear that funny internet dialup noise on the phone line and wonder what it was.

I used to tell her that something must be wrong with the phone line. She was okay with that answer for awhile.

Then she decided to call up the phone company and find out what was wrong and the person at the phone company told my mom that it was me being on the internet.

Around a month later my mom got a phone bill in the mail for I think it was $500.00 or so. She was mad and the lady on the phone told her it was because I was dialing into non local numbers. lol

She then suggested that it would be cheaper that we get dsl so at the end of 2001 we got DSL installed at our house and boy what a difference.

And it was much cheaper. My mom then bought a new computer for with windows vista and then I retired the old windows 98 computer.

I didn't even know dsl existed yet until the lady on the phone told my mom about it.
