Carpenter bees can destroy wood and homes overtime however the carpenter bees don't do as much damage to a home as carpenter ants or termites do.

Mostly carpenter bees bore holes into wood but if they bore enough holes overtime and are not stopped then the structure of the home or building could be compromised.

So you really should get the carpenter bees away from your home or other building that they're destroying.

You can apply some Almond oil to the nest or where the bees have been drilling holes which will deter the carpenter bees or spray some bee spray around the areas.

Also when you notice the carpenter bees spray the bees directly to kill them off and seal up any holes that the carpenter bees have made or may be getting through to your home.

You can also use a soda bottle to make a homemade carpenter bee trap by following the below directions.

  1. Cut away the top third of a clean 2-liter soda bottle.
  2. Invert the bottle top to nest it in the bottle bottom.
  3. Drill holes and add cord to make a hanging trap.
  4. Use honey or sugar water as bait.
  5. Poison The bees with laundry soap.
  6. Position your traps near bee access points.
