When I first moved into my current house 6 years ago I was heating with heating oil as that's the only option I have in this area.
No natural gas available and electric or propane as the only other option.
My house used to cost me $700.00 per month to heat with heating oil which is very expensive and the price would change whenever the price per gallon of heating oil went up or down.
When I had my heating oil tank refilled I had to pay for the fill in cash or debit/credit card which was expensive as it was not a monthly bill.
I had to have over $1,000.00 to fill the heating oil tank when needed.
My average cost to heat my home using heating oil per winter season was around $4,200.00 per heating season which was expensive.
Now with wood heat I heat my home for $1,500.00 per year which is a huge savings so I save $2,700.00 per year.
However if I had natural gas then I wouldn't save anything.
