Whether bank fraud is a felony or misdemeanor depends on the states laws and what type of bank fraud was committed.

In some states bank fraud and forgery becomes a misdemeanor if the bank fraud or check forgery was for less than $500.00 but if it was more than $500.00 that was forged or fraud then it becomes a felony which can land you in prison for up to 2 years or more.

In Texas forgery is always a Felony and will most always get you some jail or prison time of 18 months to 2 years and maybe even a fine.

In even more severe cases of bank fraud you can be punished by getting a fine of up to $1,000,000 and up to 30 years in prison.

Lesser charges may only get you 5 to 10 years in prison but still it's never worth it because you can't get that time back that you're imprisoned for and no amount of money is worth going to prison over.
