165Hz is better than 144Hz especially if you're gaming.

Any game that runs at 165Hz will be smoother than 144z.

If you can't spend much or are on a tight budget or prioritize other monitor features, a 144hz monitor is a fantastic option.

But if you have a powerful graphics card, and don't mind spending a bit more, a 165hz monitor might be the way to go.

240Hz and 360Hz monitors also exist but they require incredibly high-end hardware to run such high frame rates.

165Hz hits a nice balanced sweet spot for buttery smooth gaming without cost or performance overkill.

Popular gaming monitors among professionals include ASUS VG248QE, a 24-inch monitor with a 1080p resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, a 1ms response time, and a TN panel; BenQ Zowie XL2546, a 24.5-inch monitor with a 1080p resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, a 1ms response time, and a TN panel; and LG 27GL850.

A curved monitor provides a more immersive experience than a flat monitor, which is why gamers prefer it.

When choosing a gaming monitor size, start with your anticipated distance from the screen.

24-inch monitors are best for distances of 3 feet or less.

27-inch displays work well for 3 to 4 feet.

If you are interested in a larger gaming monitor, 32-inch screens work best when sitting about 5 feet away.

The difference between a top-tier gaming monitor and a regular monitor can be significant, with top-tier monitors offering: Higher refresh rates, such as 240Hz or 300Hz, for a smoother gaming experience.

Faster response times, such as 1ms or 2ms, to reduce ghosting and blurring.
