For packages from FedEx that require a signature FedEx will attempt to deliver your package 2 more times for a total of 3 delivery attempts.
The FedEx delivery driver should also leave a door tag on your door on the first delivery attempt where you can leave your signature with instructions for the driver to leave your package somewhere around your house while you're gone.
The driver should then leave the package at your door or other secure location at your house.
If the package doesn't require a signature the FedEx delivery driver should leave the package at your house in a location hopefully out of sight.
