The kind of drug that Vtama is, is an aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) agonist drug.

Vtama is a cream for plaque psoriasis which works differently than other creams made for plaque psoriasis.

Vtama cream is used to treat mild, moderate, and severe psoriasis in adults.

The Vtama cream can be used on all areas of the body, including on sensitive locations, such as the face, skin folds, and neck.

However it is not known if the Vtama cream is safe and effective in children with psoriasis under 18 years of age.

VTAMA (tapinarof) cream contains tapinarof as the active ingredient.

Tapinarof is an aryl hydrocarbon receptor agonist.

To use Vtama cream for plaque psoriasis or psoriasis you apply the Vtama cream to the psoriasis plaques (the raised patches of thick, inflamed skin).

Vtama belongs to a group of drugs called aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) agonists.

These drugs likely work by decreasing inflammation (swelling and damage) and slowing down how quickly your body makes new skin cells.

In two 3-month trials, 36-40% of people who used Vtama (tapinarof) saw their psoriasis either clear up completely or almost completely, compared with only 6% of people who used a placebo cream (a cream with no active medication in it).

Vtama (tapinarof) isn't a steroid.

VTAMA cream is not a steroid and is safe for long-term use (as demonstrated in clinical studies over 52 weeks), even on sensitive skin areas.

The cost for Vtama topical cream 1% is around $1,468.00 for a supply of 60 grams, depending on the pharmacy you visit.

Since May 2022, Vtama cream has been approved in the USA for the topical treatment of plaque psoriasis in adults.

Apply the VTAMA cream once daily to psoriasis skin lesions only and avoid unaffected areas of skin.

Wash your hands after application unless VTAMA cream is for treatment of the hands.

In general, Medicare prescription drug plans (Part D) do not cover Vtama.

Be sure to contact your specific plan to verify coverage information.
