Verbal abuse is a crime in the Philippines.
According to the Gender Watch Against Violence and Exploitation (GWAVE), verbal abuse often contributes to psychological abuse experienced by women and can be penalized as a violation of RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.
Violation of a BPO shall be punishable by imprisonment of thirty (30) days without prejudice to any other criminal or civil action that the offended party may file for any of the acts committed.
A judgment of violation of a BPO may be appealed according to the Rules of Court.
The provisions of the new Civil Code on moral damages state: “Art. 2217.

The exercise of a right must be in accordance with the purpose for which it was established and must not be excessive or unduly harsh; there must be no intention to harm another.
7610, otherwise known as the "Special Protection of children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, " and/or crimes against children, including the conceived but unborn child as provided for by the Revised penal Code and other pertinent laws.
