The point and main purpose of the CN Tower is that it's used as a communications tower.

Cell towers, also known as cell sites, are where electric communications equipment and antennae are mounted, allowing the surrounding area to use wireless communication devices like telephones and radios.

The CN Tower is a 553.3 m-high concrete communications and observation tower in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Built on the former Railway Lands, it was completed in 1976.

It's name "CN" referred to Canadian National, the railway company that built the tower.

CN Tower, also called Canadian National Tower, broadcast and telecommunications tower in Toronto.

Standing at a height of 1,815 feet (553 meters), it was the world's tallest freestanding structure until 2007, when it was surpassed by the Burj Dubai building in Dubayy (Dubai), U.A.E.

Despite the different safety standards in the 1960s, there was apparently only one fatality during the construction of the CN Tower.

The only person who died was Jack Ashton, a consultant for the concrete inspection company.

Some interesting facts about the CN tower include.

The CN Tower was classified as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1995.
The Tower took 40 months to build and cost $63 million.

The Canadian National sold the CN Tower before its privatization in 1995.

Most of the funds were used to pay back the debt the company had accumulated over the years.

The CN Tower is now owned by the Canada Lands Company, a federal Crown corporation responsible for real estate development.

They removed 56,234 metric tonnes (62,000 tons) of earth and shale before pouring a thick concrete and steel foundation 6.71 m (22 ft) deep on a base of hand-and-machine-smoothed shale.
