Tor can be used for normal browsing although Tor is not the best browser for normal browsing or for day to day use.

Tor can be traced back although it can be difficult to do so.

If you visit a website using Tor Browser, they don't know who you are or your true location.

Unfortunately many sites ask for more personal information than they need through web forms.

If you sign in to that website, they still don't know your location but they know who you are.

Downloading and installing Tor on your computer is safe.

I've downloaded Tor on my computer and it has been safe and their were no viruses, etc from downloading Tor.

It is not illegal to browse Tor but when you do something illegal on the dark or deep with with Tor it becomes illegal.

As long as you're simply browsing the dark web or deep web with Tor and not doing anything that is actually illegal you'll be safe.

Tor is only illegal if you use Tor to download illegal things or do illegal things on the dark or deep web.

Using or downloading Tor in itself is not illegal though.

Tor is not illegal to download or use in the USA unless you use the Tor Browser for illegal activities.

Downloading and using the Tor browser is not illegal.

What is illegal is using the Tor browser to do illegal things on the dark web or buying illegal things on the dark web.

You can legally though download and use the Tor browser but don't use the Tor browser or the dark or deep web for illegal things and you'll be fine.

Only around 1 percent of the web or internet is the Dark Web.

99 percent of the web is not dark.

The Dark Web, however, can only be accessed by using the Tor browser.

There is no way to accidentally stumble into it during typical browsing, such as social media accounts, shopping, or simply watching YouTube videos.

Accessing the Deep Web itself is not illegal.

However doing illegal activities or purchasing illegal things on the Deep Web is illegal.

But if you simply want to access and view the deep web it's not illegal to do so.

Accessing the content on the Dark web is relatively safe.

Same as using a regular browser.

Where the danger comes in is when you buy from illegal marketplaces or download files.

While downloads may contain malware or keyloggers, the police can trace illegal purchases and get you in trouble.

Using Tor or visiting the Dark Web are not unlawful in themselves.

It is of course illegal to carry out illegal acts anonymously, such as accessing child abuse images, promoting terrorism, or selling illegal items such as weapons.

When you access the dark web, you're not surfing the interconnected servers you regularly interact with.

Instead, everything stays internal on the Tor network, which provides security and privacy to everyone equally.

Worth noting: Dark web website addresses end with.

The “dark web” is a collective term for websites that are only accessible using the Tor browser.

These websites are not accessible via Google Chrome, Firefox, or other popular browsers.

Typical web browsers reveal their unique IP (Internet Protocol) address, making them traceable by law enforcement.

But a dark web browser issues a false IP address, using a series of relays, to mask the user's identity.

A significant portion of dark web activity is lawful.

The legality of accessing the dark web varies from country to country.

In the US, visiting the dark web is legal, though using Tor without the safety of a VPN may draw scrutiny from your ISP as well as from the government.
