Yes it's very possible to escape from modern prisons of today.
An example awhile back the school shooter T.J lane was able to escape prison somehow but he was soon captured and returned to prison.
It's very hard to escape from today's prisons but it's not impossible for a prisoner to escape if they're determined enough to escape.
Even some guards have been known to help some prisoners escape so it's possible.
