Crab Cakes are made out of crab meat and various other ingredients including bread crumbs, mayonnaise, mustard, eggs, and seasonings and then the crab cake is then sautéed, baked, grilled, deep fried, or broiled, and then served.
That's why it's called a crab cake because the meat it's made out is from crabs and Crab Cakes are very delicious and I wish I had some right now.
