Diaper blowouts are very common and eventually all babies who wear diapers will have a diaper blowout at least a few times in their life of wearing diapers.

Diaper Blowouts are normal and happen to all babies eventually.

Most often diaper blowouts happen with disposable diapers but even cloth diapered babies sometime experience diaper blowouts.

Blowout diapers are when the baby poops so much that the diaper cannot contain the poop.

Then the poop comes out the back of the diaper and sometimes the leg gathers of the diaper.

When your baby has a diaper blowout they usually are having explosive poop that comes out so fast that the diaper being against their butt is not enough room for the poop so it shoots out the back of the diaper and gets all over their back and clothes.

Diaper blowouts can be a result of diapers that are too small or sometimes a bit too big.

Proper fitting diapers are best to prevent diaper blowouts.

If your baby is having diaper blowouts try putting a few paper towels or napkins down the back of the diaper and extend the paper towel or napkin about 3 to 4 inches or so above the diaper waistband.

This has worked for my babies when they had blowouts from explosive poop.

Diaper blowouts tend to happen at the back of the diaper where it is hard to create a seal.

In many cases blowouts happen because of the wrong size diaper or diapers that aren't fully snug on the baby.

It can be hard to ensure a good diaper fit when changing a wriggly baby!

To help prevent diaper blowouts change your baby's diaper frequently.

A diaper blowout is more likely to occur when it's too full.

Put the diaper on securely.

Not too tightly just snugly enough to reduce gaps where poop can escape.
